MISSION STATEMENT
We, the staff of Rock Island Elementary School, are committed to providing students with a safe and stimulating environment, a love of learning and respect for our world through the combined efforts of faculty, staff, and community. Through a love of learning, we will foster a motivational environment in which students can be successful in reading, writing, and mathematics.

WE BELIEVE:
- All students can learn, but they learn at different rates and with different preferential styles.
- All students should be taught how to learn.
- We must prepare all students for a knowledge-based, technologically rich, and culturally diverse 21st century.
- A safe and secure environment is requisite for teaching and learning.
- Learning should take place at home, in school, and in the community.
- Student achievement is enhanced through partnerships.
- All individuals should be treated with respect and dignity.
- Schools should reflect participatory management.
- Schools should be accountable for improving student achievement.
- Staff should be provided with professional development and training.
- All decisions should be based on student needs and what is best for students.
- Diversity should be promoted so that isolation of racial, ethnic and socioeconomic groups is avoided; the full benefits of integration are achieved; and education is enhanced in a diverse, inclusive setting.
- All students and staff should have experiences that develop interpersonal skills and sensitivity in working with others of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Quality educational opportunities should be provided for all students in integrated environments that enhance success and promote understanding and appreciation of diversity, fair play and the positive tenets of a democracy.
- Both parent and community participation, and parent and community responsibility, are essential to the positive social, emotional, cultural, and academic development of every child and adult.
